The only complaint that I have about this book is that it was too short! It only took about 3 hours to read, which flew by so fast!
I thought the concept for this book was unique and interesting and this was the first work I read by this author. The book started off a little slow as the world and storyline were set up, but then the rest of the book was pretty fast paced. There was a good amount of suspense as the reader finds out whether or not Rayah has powers, which I appreciated. I've found that some authors stretch the big reveal on a bit too long, but Hawkins provided just enough information to keep things interesting without giving too much away. I'm 25 and enjoyed reading the majority of this book, but some parts seemed to definitely be more geared towards teens, who I think would be the perfect demographic for this book. Overall I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading the rest of the series!
